“Hey, hey! No groaning! This is HISTORY.”

First, I would like to start by giving all of you a history lesson. “Hey, hey! No groaning! This is HISTORY.” So, when we think of Halloween, we think of a fun and spooky festival for those of all ages. The streets are filled with adults and children in various costumes from terrifying monsters to figures of history… aaaaannnddd, of course, Harley Quinn. You can’t even turn a corner without seeing at least 5 Harley Quinns πŸ™„.

On Halloween, we follow many traditions, like making jack-o-lanterns, and dressing up. But why? How did all these traditions come to pass? Except for the Harley Quinns. I can’t explain that.

It is thought that Halloween originated from the festival known as Samhain. The festival celebrated the division between the two halves of the year, Light and Dark. Legend states that during this festival, the veils between the world and the otherworld were their thinnest, thus allowing evil spirits to pass. To protect themselves from the evil spirits of the otherworld, the people wore costumes and masks to disguise themselves. Thus came the tradition of wearing costumes at Halloween.

What of the Jack-O-Lanterns? Well, it is said that this tradition emerged from a city on the outskirts of the Celtic Island. The soul of the city’s former watchman, Jack’s soul, roamed across the earth, and to protect themselves, people started carving creepy faces in pumpkins and making lanterns with them. That’s where the name of these creepy looking vegetables come from; Jack of the Lanterns.

Today, I have a special treat for you. (Not literally, no, as the people dressed up as dogs 🐢🦴 for Halloween might have been thinking. Just no.) By treat, I mean, I will share with you an EPIC spooky recipe, perfect for Halloween. But before that, I will also stay true to the title of the post, and give you some spooky Halloween-at-home hacks. Here we go!

  1. Make a spooky snack
-Since you might not be able to do traditional Halloween activities like going to a haunted house or trick-or-treating with friends, you can channel more of your energy into creating a stunning spread of spooky snacks.
  2. Watch a scary movie
-This is personal favorite of mine. There’s no more classic Halloween activity than watching a scary movie. I even have a few suggestions of horror movies, that have just the right amount of horror. You could watch Hubie Halloween, which has just been released on 7th October, and is available of Netflix. Hocus-Pocus is also a good choice, but I think it will be better liked by younger kids.

3. Get the whole family involved in dress-ups
-How? Try a theme for the whole family and get the pets involved. Imagine the dog in a glow-in-the-dark skeleton outfit. That’s right, a mini skeleton running around your garden!

Aaaaannnddd, now for the recipe! The recipe’s name is Dracula Dentures! In the recipe, the directions for the chocolate cookies weren’t mentioned, so I am giving the link for the best and the easiest cookie recipe I could find riiiiggghhhhttt here.

Dracula Dentures

DRACULA DENTURES
INGREDIENTS:
1. Chocolate chip cookies
2. Vanilla frosting
3. Red food coloring
4. Mini marshmallows
5. Slivered almonds

INSTRUCIONS:
1. Cut chocolate cookies in half.
2. Add the red food coloring into the vanilla frosting and stir until smooth. Spread a thin layer of this onto the two halves of the cookie.
3. Place mini marshmallows around the round edges of half of the halves.
4. Place the remaining halves on top, then stick a slivered almond on each side to create fangs.
Cool, right? I am an outright fan of this recipe.
